Okay, so the other day I was browsing around, looking for a new watch, and I stumbled upon this OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Sapphire. I’ve always been a fan of the Speedmaster, especially with its history and all that. So, I started digging deeper into it.
First off, I checked out a few forums and some of those watch enthusiast blogs. You know, just to get a feel for what people were saying. I found a bunch of stuff about how to spot a fake Speedmaster. Apparently, you gotta watch out for incorrect spacing of the subdials or the wrong markings on that tachymeter scale around the bezel. They should be real sharp and line up perfectly with the dial. Also, the overall quality of the case and bracelet is a big giveaway. If it feels cheap, it’s probably not the real deal.
Then, I got into the history of the thing. Did you know that the Speedmaster was used by Apollo astronauts? It even went to the Moon with Apollo 11! There are these two specific references, 105.012 and 145.012, that were actually worn on the Moon. How cool is that? I guess that makes them the original “Moon watches.”
Now, about the price, I checked out a few places online, like Amazon and some other sites. And, the Speedmaster Professional generally holds its value pretty well. I mean, I saw some vintage models and limited editions going for a lot! There is a website called Chrono24 in Japan, and I found it sells Omega Speedmaster Professional watches for men and women, even some old vintage ones. Amazon Japan, they also have a massive selection, like men’s and women’s watches, pocket watches, and so much more. And they often have some pretty sweet deals and coupons. It is really tempting!
But here’s the thing, I’m not just going to jump in and buy the first one I see. I wanted to make sure I’m getting a good deal and, more importantly, an authentic one. This watch is known to hold its value well, especially the older models and limited editions, so I figure it’s worth the extra effort to do it right.
- Checked online forums and blogs: Looked for tips on spotting fake Speedmasters.
- Researched the history: Learned about the Speedmaster’s connection to the Apollo missions.
- Compared prices: Scanned through different websites like Chrono24, Amazon, etc.
- Decided to be patient: Realized it’s important to get an authentic watch and a good deal.
So, after all this, I decided to hold off on buying the watch for now. I’m going to keep researching, maybe visit a few authorized dealers, and see if I can find a good deal on a genuine Speedmaster. It might take some time, but I think it’ll be worth it in the end. Plus, it’s kind of fun learning all this stuff about watches!
What’s Next?
I’m going to keep an eye out for good deals online, but I’m also planning to visit a few local watch stores. I want to see these watches in person, try them on, and get a feel for the real thing. I mean, it has already been a fun journey so far.
Hopefully, I’ll find the perfect Speedmaster soon. Until then, I’ll just keep dreaming about having that iconic watch on my wrist. Wish me luck!
