So, I’ve been totally into making bags lately, and I just finished up something I’m pretty stoked about. I tried to remake the PRADA Re-Edition 2005 bag. Yeah, the one all the celebs like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid are rocking. I figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, it’s a classic, right?
I started by diving deep into what makes this bag so special. It’s pretty much the same as the original from 2005, all nylon and sleek. And it’s not huge, which is perfect for just throwing in your essentials and going. The main thing I noticed is the logo plaque. It reads “PRADA,” “MILANO,” and “DAL 1913” all in caps. It’s supposed to match the bag’s leather color. And there’s this tiny little notch in the “R” of PRADA. Gotta get those details right!
I went ahead and gathered all my materials. I found some pretty good quality nylon that I think matches the original pretty well. Then, I got to work cutting and sewing. It was a bit of a challenge to get the shape right, but after a few tries, I think I nailed it. The strap was next. This bag has an adjustable strap with a little coin purse on it, which is kinda cool. I made sure to include that in my version. It took some time, but I managed to make a strap that looks just like the real deal, complete with a mini pouch.
- Found some killer nylon fabric.
- Spent hours cutting and sewing.
- Nailed the strap and the coin purse.
- Got the logo plaque spot on.
The final touch was the logo plaque. I found a metal piece that I could engrave. After carefully etching in “PRADA,” “MILANO,” and “DAL 1913,” I made that little indent in the “R.” Then, I matched it to the color of the leather parts I added, and attached it to the bag. It looks pretty legit, if I do say so myself.
Honestly, the whole project was a blast. It took some trial and error, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s got that same vibe as the PRADA Re-Edition 2005. I’ve been carrying it around, and I feel like a million bucks, even though I didn’t spend nearly that much making it. It just goes to show, with a little bit of effort, you can create something really special.
