Alright, let’s talk about this here watch, the CopyOMEGA… whatever that long name is. Speedmaster Day-Date somethin’ somethin’. Looks fancy, costs a pretty penny, I reckon.

What to look for, you know, if you don’t wanna get ripped off. ‘Cause there’s a lot of fakes out there, more than chickens in my yard, I tell ya.

  • First thing, them little dials inside the big dial? They gotta be spaced right, not all crooked like a drunken fence post. And the numbers and markings around the edge, they gotta be sharp and lined up, not blurry like my eyesight in the mornin’.
  • Then, the metal part, the case and the bracelet they call it, it shouldn’t feel cheap. Should be smooth and shiny, not rough like a cob. If it feels like tin can, well, you’ve been had.

Now, they got this one watch, the “Moonwatch” they call it. Famous thing, went to the moon and all. It’s the one most folks think of when you say “Speedmaster”. Plain and simple, black face, you wind it up yourself. Ain’t changed much over the years, which is good, I guess. Means it’s a good ‘un.

This watch I’m talkin’ about, the Day-Date one, it’s got more stuff goin’ on. Tells you the day, the date, the month, and still got them little dials. Handy if you forget what day it is, which happens to me more often than I’d like to admit. They call it the Mark 40, or somethin’ like that, sounds like a car part to me.

If you’re gonna buy one of these watches, you gotta be patient. Everybody wants one, been that way since, shoot, since before I was born, I think. They say 1957, but that’s just a number to me. Long time ago, that’s all I know.

This here watch, it’s got a history, a story to tell. More than just tellin’ time, it’s like a piece of somethin’ special. You gotta appreciate that, they say. Me? I just want a watch that tells me when it’s time to feed the chickens and when it’s time for my stories.

And when you buy it, try to get the whole shebang, the watch and the original metal band, they call it a bracelet, fancy ain’t it? ‘Cause if it ain’t got that, well, it’s like a pie without the filling, just ain’t right. And make sure all the papers and boxes are there too, that way you know it’s real and not some fella trying to pull a fast one on you. The numbers on the bracelet are important, something like 1562, you gotta look it up to be sure.

They talk about the dial, the face of the watch, sayin’ it’s silver and the numbers glow in the dark. Handy if you gotta check the time in the middle of the night, like when the dog starts barkin’ at nothin’. They made this particular Day-Date watch in 1994 they say, vintage they call it. Means it’s old but still good, like me I guess.

And the guts of the watch, the part that makes it tick, they test it real good, makin’ sure it don’t lose or gain more than a second a day. That’s mighty precise, I tell ya. More precise than my rooster, that’s for sure. They even fine-tune it, makin’ it even better, almost perfect.

This watch, it’s got three little dials, they call ‘em registers, and markings around the edge, like I said before. That’s how you know it’s a Speedmaster, they say. Lots of details, lots of little things to look at. Makes my head spin sometimes.

So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this CopyOMEGA… Speedy-somethin’ watch. Just remember, buy from someone you trust, don’t get fooled by a pretty face, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. That’s what my pappy always used to say, and he was a smart fella, even if he didn’t know nothin’ about fancy watches.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens. They’re probably squawkin’ up a storm by now.
