Okay, so I’ve been wanting a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712 for a while now. It’s a pretty cool watch with a date, seconds, moon phase, and power reserve indicator all on this funky, off-center dial. I just love how it looks. It’s a luxury watch, so you know, it ain’t cheap. But I finally decided to pull the trigger and get one.
First, I started looking around online to see where I could even buy one of these things. I mean, it’s not like you can just walk into any old watch store and find a Patek Philippe. So I checked their official website. They have this “store locator” thing where you can find authorized dealers and boutiques. Only those places listed on their website are legit, so you gotta be careful.
Then I started checking out some other websites that sell luxury watches, like Luxury Watches USA. They claimed to have the 5712 and said they only sell 100% real watches. Plus, they offer free overnight shipping, which is pretty sweet.
I also came across this site called Watchfinder, which sells used luxury watches. Every watch is checked by their experts and comes with a two-year warranty, which is some kind of relief. They had a bunch of pre-owned Patek Philippe watches, including the 5712. I mean there’s this guy named Franciszek Czapek, who was involved in the beginning of Patek Philippe & Co., I guess I’d better avoid those watch sellers who are related to this guy.
Of course, I also looked on eBay. There were a lot of 5712s there too, and some of them were a bit cheaper than the other places I looked. I made sure to only consider sellers with really good ratings and reviews, because I didn’t want to get scammed.
Another site I found was Bob’s Watches, which also sells used Patek Philippe watches. They said all their watches are certified and authentic, and they had a good selection of 5712s.
After looking at all these different options, I started to narrow it down. I compared prices, checked out the sellers’ reputations, and read a bunch of reviews. It’s a big purchase, so I wanted to be extra careful.
There was this one 5712 on Bob’s Watches that caught my eye. It was an 18kt rose gold model with a brown stainless steel bracelet. It had a fixed 18kt rose gold bezel and a grey dial with index hour markers. The dial also had minute markers around the outer rim and showed the date. It looked like a really nice watch, and the price was in the right ballpark. However, I couldn’t find if it’s in stock on their website, I’d better check it out.
I ended up contacting the seller through their website. We talked back and forth a few times, and I asked a bunch of questions about the watch’s condition, history, and authenticity. They were super helpful and answered all my questions. I finally decided to go for it and bought the watch!
It arrived a few days later, and I was so excited to finally have it in my hands. It looked even better in person than it did in the pictures. The octagonal bezel with the polished and satin finish looks legendary. I’ve been wearing it every day since, and I’m really happy with my purchase. It was a long process, but it was definitely worth it in the end.
