Okay, so I saw this PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag online the other day, and I just couldn’t get it out of my head. It’s a classic style, and I thought, “Why not try to remake it myself?” I mean, I love a good DIY project, and this seemed like a fun challenge.

First things first, I needed to gather my materials. I managed to find some sturdy black nylon fabric that looked pretty close to the Re-Nylon material PRADA uses. It wasn’t the easiest to track down, but I did find some good ones after a few store trips. It was hard to find one, but I found a similar one at the fifth store, and also found a pattern that seemed like a good starting point.

  • Black nylon fabric
  • Matching thread
  • Some heavy-duty interfacing to give the bag some structure
  • A silver chain for the handle
  • A few silver D-rings and other hardware bits
  • A sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Measuring tape
  • Iron

I started by carefully cutting out all the pattern pieces from the nylon fabric. I made sure to double and triple-check my measurements because, you know, measure twice, cut once! Then, I ironed on the interfacing to the appropriate pieces to give the bag that nice, crisp look.

Next up, the sewing. This was the most time-consuming part, but also the most satisfying. I began by stitching the main body pieces together, making sure to reinforce the seams because I wanted this bag to last. Then I carefully and slowly added the lining and did lots of work on the inside pocket.

After I finished the bag, I started working on the handles. I attached the D-rings to the bag and threaded the silver chain through them. I made sure the chain was the right length to be comfortable on my shoulder, and I secured the ends with some extra stitching for added durability.

Final Touches

The last step was to add the PRADA logo. I found a small metal rectangle online that looked similar, and I carefully sewed it onto the front of the bag. And voilà, my very own Remake PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag was complete!

Honestly, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s not a perfect replica, but it definitely captures the vibe of the original. Plus, it was a lot of fun to make, and I saved a ton of money by doing it myself. I hope you guys enjoy my DIY journey.
